About Dr. Rutt

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland (License Number 05682) practicing in Federal Hill, Baltimore. I was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area.  I earned my doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from University of Kansas. I pursued post-doctoral training with the Department of Veterans Affairs. I provide individual therapy for a wide variety of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, stress, grief & loss, relationship issues, and adjustment issues. I have worked with people from highly diverse backgrounds ranging from young professionals to people who are retired. I’ve worked with undergraduate and graduate students, working professionals, parents, and Veterans. Settings I have worked include a mental health clinic, college counseling center, substance abuse clinic, a medical center, and in private practice. When I'm not working I enjoy hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Dr. Rutt's Approach to Therapy

My passion is to help people through some of the most difficult times in their lives. I believe that good therapy starts with a trusting and collaborative relationship. My approach in therapy is nonjudgmental, down-to-earth, and evidence-based. I work to create a place where you feel safe and able to talk about the things that are important to you. I have had comprehensive training in a wide variety of psychotherapies. I draw from multiple approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Client-Centered Therapy.
